HIRTY HOURS SET ASIDE FOR 15 EMPLOYEES TO LEARN TANNING TECHNIQUES THAT ARE USEFUL FOR SUPPORTING OUR CLIENTS IN AN EVEN BETTER WAY.
THIS IS THE FIRST COURSE THAT GER HAS ORGANISED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ISTITUTO GALILEO GALILEI IN ARZIGNANO.
Training is an indispensable element for company growth. An opportunity that each businessperson must know how to acknowledge to ensure that their company reality gives an even better performance and can intercept and answer the requests of every client quickly. With this premise, even GER has organised a training course dedicated to processing leather in collaboration with the Istituto “Galileo Galilei” (Galileo Galilei High School) in Arzignano.
“Training is important to GER,” explains the General Manager Cesare Dal Monte. “We believe that incompany training is necessary for growing and offering new stimuli. With this course, dedicated to tanning techniques, we want to try and include even the most common problems that tanners meet daily through the whole process and find solutions.”GER therefore organised 30 training hours that looked at all the moments of the tanning process, step by step, with the help of expert tanners and leather professionals.
A miscellaneous group of 15 employees, among which technicians, salespeople and administrative staff, were able to apply themselves to every aspect of this industrial process.
A course for learning tanning techniques, which for the GER group has become an opportunity for finding solutions together with the Research and Development section.
Tanning is an ancient craft, and more than any other today it needs to be supported by technology and artificial intelligence so as to answer the requests for sustainability that are being imposed more and more by the new, post pandemic world.
All 15 employees were extremely interested in the course, taking part in it actively, and other employees will be able to repeat the experience from the second half of September.
“It is a shared moment that saw the enthusiastic participation of all our employees,” – comments the Marketing and Communications manager Maurizio Molon –. “For us who work in this sector, learning tanning techniques is truly of additional value. Now we can be much more receptive to the requests of clients and we can accompany them along an industrialisation road that includes every requirement and which can turn every single passage into data.
Returning each phase of the process in numeric terms means being able to lead our clients towards a road of true sustainability that allows them to make production and resources much more efficient.”
TANNING: “FOOD WASTE BECOMES A VERY VALUABLE SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE”
Angelo Peruffo and Giorgio Magnabosco, professors of tanning techniques at Istituto “Galileo Galilei” in Arzignano, have years of experience in the tanning sector. The first teacher, Peruffo,
guided Ger employees in the study of the “riviera” and “wet blue” phases, while the latter accompanied them through the “finishing”.
Both professors teach at ITIS “G. Galilei”, which opened in 1960 and which trains technical experts for the tanning industry, one of the strategic economic sectors in the Chiampo valley.
“To be a tanner, and I believe the same is true for any other job, you need lots of enthusiasm,” commented Peruffo. “It is something I often find in the young people I work with daily. Students who decide to follow this road of study have very clear ideas, are aimed at the future and touch the factivity of a job which, even though tough, is very fascinating, just like the idea of transforming waste material, which otherwise would be demanding to dispose of in terms of both resources and pollution, into a significant product of value.”
