“Tanned in the World” 2014 edition: the awards party

The third edition of the competition organized by UNIC during LINEAPELLE in Bologna in March, was a feast.

An event within the event, which featured the young participants to “Tanned in the World“, established in 2012 by the National Tanning Industry, under the patronage of LINEAPELLE and with the support of the City of Arzignano. A national competition involving students in the third year of middle school of the main Italian tannery districts (which we discussed here).
Entering the pavilion num.31 of Bologna Fiera, the glance was really impressive. Unlike previous editions in fact, when the students were welcomed in the Auditorium of the fair, this year they wanted to provide them an entire pavilion.

Beyond the competition itself, which engaged students for several months in the execution of the works, the contest let the students compare closely with production activities and craft of the tanning industry, but what has involved the guys a lot, was undoubtedly the show organized during the awards ceremony.

There were a lot the personalities, including the mayors of the countries involved: Arzignano, Pisa and Solofra, the President of UNIC, Rino Mastrotto , which told the story of his family linked to tanning over the decades.
Not just speeches, however, but also a lot of music, the break dance show blew up the kids from their seats, and has even led some of them to dance on stage, accompanying the crew.

Another surprise came with the presence of a truly exceptional guest: Romano Battisti, a silver medal at the London Olympics in 2012 in the specialty boating.
And the latter has rewarded the students whose works had received the most votes. The exhibition inside the pavilion number 26 collected for all the three days of the fair, the works realized by the students, voted by about 200 people.

Among the awards, the one for the “quality” was won by 3B Middle School Motterle Arzignano, with a performance that reproduces the Statue of Liberty called “Freedom in the World“.
The general classification was won – for the first time after two consecutive victories of the Media Zanella Arzignano – the center of Santa Croce, who presented a very nice work. A reproduction entirely covered in leather to the beautiful Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa.
The second place went to the Guarini Institute of Solofra , and to the work called “GeoLove“, while the bronze medal was awarded to the “African Masks” made by the students of the school Beltrame Montorso (VI).

This initiative is becoming a must in an important event like LINEAPELLE, the students are involved every year more and more closely, it remains to ask what will be organized for the next editions. We’ll see… in the meantime, the staff of GER Elettronica wants to congratulate to these young students, who have shown great commitment and who represent the future of a sector as important as that of tanning.
